Indira Gandhi Smartphone Yojana: Free Smartphones for Women in Rajasthan
The Indira Gandhi Smartphone Yojana is a new scheme announced by the Chief Minister of Rajasthan, offering free smartphones to women in the state. Under this scheme, women in Rajasthan will receive a smartphone with internet connectivity and free voice calls.
The program is targeted at several groups of women in the state. Firstly, it is available to girls studying in 9th to 12th standard in all government schools in Rajasthan. Secondly, girls studying in government higher education colleges are also eligible. Additionally, the scheme is open to widows or single women who are receiving a government pension. Furthermore, women who have completed 100 working days under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee or 50 working days under the Indira Gandhi Urban Employment Guarantee Scheme are also eligible.
